What is Countdown Calculator?
A countdown calculator measures a static time difference until or since a named event. It reports complete days, remaining clock units, calendar context, status, and optional progress from a chosen start moment.

How the calculation works
The event moment is compared with the selected local comparison moment. The absolute difference is divided into complete days, remaining hours, minutes, and seconds; an optional progress start adds a bounded completion percentage.
Worked example
Set an exam for July 20 at 09:00 and compare from July 15 at 12:30 to see complete days plus the remaining clock-time breakdown and event weekday.
Countdown calculator versus live timer
This tool calculates from the comparison moment entered and does not continuously update seconds while the page stays open.
A static result is reproducible for planning. Recalculate with a newer comparison time when an updated value is needed.
Event time and timezone
A date-only event is treated as local midnight. Adding a local time creates a more precise target.
The same clock time can represent different instants in different zones, so include the intended timezone when sharing across locations.
How progress works
When a valid start precedes the event, progress measures where the comparison moment lies between those points.
Values before the start or after the event are clamped to zero or 100 percent, while status still shows Upcoming, Passed, or Now.

Accuracy and limitations
